Champagne ganha nova embalagem para reduzir emissões de carbono

Depois de muitas pesquisas e testes, os fabricantes de garrafas de Champagne conseguiram afinar o recipiente para diminuir as emissões de carbono envolvidas em sua cadeia produtiva. Isso porque, em 2003, um estudo revelou que eram emitidas 200 mil toneladas de CO2 por ano só para distribuir a bebida pelo mundo.

As garrafas de Champagne que pesavam, originalmente, 900 gramas e possuiam três vezes mais ar comprimido do que um pneu de carro comum, pesam, agora, 65 gramas a menos. Vários produtores da bebida, entre eles Moët & Chandon e Veuve Cliquot, já substituíram suas garrafas este ano ou estão planejando fazer isso em breve.

Essa é apenas uma das estratégias da indústria de Champagne para atingir sua meta de reduzir sua pegada de carbono em 25% até o ano de 2020 e 75% até 2050. A medida, em si, diminui as emissões em 7%, pois o tamanho reduzido da embalagem permite que cada caminhão transporte 2.400 garrafas a mais.

O velho design foi mantido.
