Mouse para aprender braile

Os computadores adaptados para pessoas com deficiência visual têm sua ênfase nos sintetizadores de voz. Trata-se de uma grande facilidade que, na opinião do decorador Philipe Racine e Jean-Marc Meyrat, da Federação Suíça dos Cegos, facilita tanto, mas tanto a vida dos cegos que eles perdem o interesse em aprender braile e acabam sem saber ler e escrever.
Pensando nisso, os dois criaram – em parceria com especialistas em computação – o Mouskie (foto), um sistema que ajuda o usuário a aprender a técnica. Funciona assim: quando uma letra é digitada, ela aparece no monitor, o sintetizador vocal a profere e quem está segurando o mouse sente os pontinhos que compõe aquela letra nos dedos.
O novo método de aprendizagem promete ser mais interativo, divertido e bem menos assustador que o tradicional ensino de braile. Os resultados também têm aparecido mais rápido.
O produto já está sendo comercializado em várias partes do mundo e tem despertado interesse especial de profissionais interessados no processo de perda da visão.
