Você ainda se lembra do disquete, da fita de vídeo VHS e da fita cassete? Pode até parecer uma pergunta obsoleta, mas o artista plástico britânico Nick Gentry* descobriu um fim muito legal e criativo para essas “velharias”.
Em suas telas, Gentry usa esses objetos para construir faces imaginárias e identidades que podem ter ligação com as informações pessoais armazenadas nesses formatos de mídia. Seus trabalhos têm como foco explorar o avanço da tecnologia.
Além disso, o britânico espera que seu trabalho possa "encorajar as pessoas a pensar de maneira mais criativa sobre os objetos que são considerados obsoletos ou inúteis". Para continuar pintando, Gentry pede doações desses tipos de mídia, que antes eram encontrados em fartura e, hoje, tornaram-se materiais difíceis de serem encontrados.
Como dizia o velho Lavoisier “na natureza nada se cria, nada se perde, tudo se transforma”, não acha?
